Bali
Enough said.
I remember the day Calvin brought up going to Bali like it was yesterday. In the grand scheme of things, it was only a few weeks ago. We were hanging out in the AirBnB in Tokyo and he said my trigger words...
Calvin: I think I want to go to Bali. You want to look at flights?
Now if you know anything about me, say the word "flight" in a sentence immediately makes me perk up. I was also very interested since, if you know anything about Calvin, he despises the beach. Okay, "despise" is a harsh word... but it's true! He absolutely hates sand so getting him to go to the beach is anything but a fun time.
It all happened so fast. Calvin just got finished telling me his friend was performing a DJ set at Savaya, Bali's most renowned night club, and I had already picked out our AirBnB. Flights were then booked accordingly. We fly in from Vietnam, stopping in Malaysia for a couple of hours, stay a week, and then fly out to the Philippines. Easy, breezy, beautiful.
You don't know how excited I was to finally leave Vietnam and head to Bali. I was getting a bit antsy staying in one place and I was ready for the clear waters and white sand of Indonesia. We left Hanoi, Vietnam early on Friday and after nearly 12 hours of travel, we made it to Bali!

We got to our AirBnB pretty late on Friday night since the airport was nearly an hour away from the villa. I thought the roads in Vietnam were chaotic but Bali beats it by a mile. Not only will you see chickens and dogs on the side of the road. There will be cows tied up to palm trees as well. I've never seen anything like a chicken, two dogs, a cow, Grab (SE Asia's Uber), and two to three scooters sharing the most narrow road you can imagine. Some how it works!

Our AirBnb is one of the nicest places I've stayed. I love the seamless transition from indoor to outdoor as our bedroom looks onto the pool. The only thing I don't love is the little guys that like to hang out when I'm using the bathroom. From geckos, millipedes, grasshoppers, spiders, and ants. I've seen it all just hanging out by the shower or on the sink. The first morning I woke up to a gecko on my toilet paper! Glad he hopped off before I used it but I was traumatized. Now I have to check the roll every time I go to the loo.

Saturday was a rest day before the big show on Sunday night. I spent the morning at a pilates class while Calvin went out to learn Padel. Pretty relaxing day for us.
Sunday was a whirlwind. We headed off to Savaya around noon to meet up with Calvin's friends.

We had some time to kill so we ended up going to the beach for a bit. Sunday's is a luxury private beach club that sits right on the shore of Uluwatu. Only a couples minutes from Savaya and our AirBnB. You actually have to take a cable car down to the property because the hike is so steep.

We got dinner then headed back to Savaya to enjoy the show. It was so much fun!

We left the club at around 2am to go back to Calvin's friend's villa. From there, I was beyond tired so I went home right after as Calvin continued on the party. He didn't get back until around 7am. He then very excitedly woke me up to show me the monkeys he saw on the way home. At least that's what he told me, I don't remember waking up at all.

As you could probably guess, we spent all of Monday in bed. We both don't drink but still ended up sore and tired. Maybe we're getting old? Who's to say.
